Sea-Doo has elected to produce the musclecraft kingpin RXP model -- previously available only with the 215-horse engine -- with the normally aspirated 155-hp version of the 1194cc triple. Contrary to some initial reports elsewhere -- and all common sense -- this version joins its more powerful antecedent and does not supplant the supercharged RXP from the line.
Along with the RXP, both the GXT and its tow-ready Wake-model counterpart can also be purchased with either 155-hp or 215-hp engines
Further, the wildly successful and now expanded GTI model line has been topped with a 155-horse option for the SE model. The GTI SE is now available with two power options: 130 hp and 155 hp Rotax 4-TEC marine engines, each garnering a three-star California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification for ultra low emissions.
Last year 1-2 performance punch of the Sea-Doo RXP and RXT returns for 2007 with new colors -- both available in either color shown -- and a second RXP option -- a lower price attached to a normally aspirated 155-hp version of BRP 4-TEC triple.
One of the plushest rides on the water, the GTX, just got more padding: along with a new ouringseat, an all-new low Thruupper deck design makes the already impressive lines of the upper deck even more ostentatious.
In addition, all two and three-passenger Sea-Doo watercraft have been equipped with higher and wider handlebars for 2007.
The somewhat superfluous non-intercooled 185-horse motor -- and the GTX SC model it rode in on -- have been dropped from the line.
Sea-Doo made a big splash in the mid-range market last year with the introduction of its first entry-level four-stroke runabout. The GTI coupled a new version of the 4-TEC motor -- returned for more torque at a rating of 130-horsepower -- with an all-new 18.5 degree semi-V hull. Both the GTI and GTI SE found much favor with enthusiasts who pined for a craft that coupled clean-burning four-stroke technology (CARB 3-Star rated), comfortable accommodations and ergonomics for three, and sporty handling. BRP has still more fun -- and more horsepower -- on tap for the 2007 model year, expanding the GTI line-up to include a 155-hp engine option for the SE model.
Sea-Doo proves its allegiance to the youth-oriented action-sports market with two machines, the 3D DI -- returning essentially unchanged after a welcome influx of additional power in its sophomore season last year -- and the tow-ready Wake Edition of the GTX.
The Wake has served as the Official Towboat of the Pro Wakeskate Series for the past four years. It has also proven itself as a very cost-effective tow boat option for skiers, skaters, and boarders both serious and recreational. The Wake will now be offered with the supercharged 215-hp motor as an option with the 155-hp engine returning as well.
